The earthquake in Haiti on Tuesday, January 12th was devastating to the country and lives were forever changed by the disaster.  People all over the world are responding with financial aid and personnel to help the people in Haiti and churches are participating too (including WPA).  Certainly the people of Haiti need all thehelp that they can get.  Yet we also realize that we need to PRAY for this country – that God’s presence and providence would be seen in this time of need.  We believe God IS ALREADY at work – let’s continue to pray in the following ways:

• Pray for people who have been trapped in the rubble that they will be found and rescued.
• Pray for those who have lost loved ones that they will be comforted.
• Pray for those who have lost their homes and a place to live that they will find shelter.
• Pray that there will be a spirit of peace and God’s love in the midst of the people in the country and that neighbor will care for neighbor.
• Pray for a continued generosity in the world towards helping this country.
• Pray for those going into the country to help with cleaning the rubble and distributing aid that God’s protection will be with them.
• Pray for those in leadership that God’s wisdom and understanding will be with them.
• Pray for the missionaries, missions teams, and aid workers that were in Haiti when the earthquake hit that God will work in and through them to continue helping the people of Haiti.
• Pray that God’s presence will be made known in the midst of this tragedy and that people will turn to Him as they try to make sense of everything.
• Pray that God will show you how He wants you to help!

There are many other ways in which you can pray!  When you hear of Haiti in the news, let it be a prompt for you to pray for the country!
